There are a lot of high profile titles headed to Blu-ray this fall and winter and some rumored release dates are popping up for some of the biggest.
First up is Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood which is looking likely for a September 21 release. Early word is that it will include the theatrical and a new unrated cut, though how many additional minutes are added back in remains a mystery.
Disney and Pixar are expected to continue their pattern of pairing their latest theatrical release with a catalog classic on November 9 with Toy Story 3 and Finding Nemo, the latter of which was close to a Blu-ray debut at least three years ago but was kept on the shelf. The irony of this pairing is Toy Story 3 is expected to overtake Finding Nemo at the box office to become the highest grossing Pixar film of all time.
Speaking of Disney, more evidence is piling up that Fantastia and Fantasia 2000 are headed to Blu-ray in December. The best potential release date is December 7.
Next up is Paramount and Marvel’s Iron Man 2 which is looking increasingly good for an October 5 bow. The date fits with the schedule Paramount followed for Iron Man on Blu-ray and has popped up at two different sources.
Lastly, The Blair Witch Project is rumored for an August 31 release which would be fitting considering Paranormal Activity 2 arrives in theaters about a month later. Fox’s 2010 talking dog family film Marmaduke is also expected on that date.
Remember, all the dates mentioned above are not confirmed by the titles’ respective studios and should be considered rumors until we alert you of such confirmation.
