Blu-ray Release Date Rumors: Gravity, Riddick, Insidious Chapter 2, Prisoners and More

Blu-ray Release Date Rumors: Gravity, Riddick, Insidious Chapter 2, Prisoners and MoreWe haven’t published a Blu-ray release date rumors article in quite some time and figured now was as good a time as ever. That and our super tipster Josh passed along some meaty rumors that you will definitely want to hear about.

Before I dive in, please keep in mind that all of the Blu-ray release dates published below are strictly rumors. No dates published are considered official and finalized until the studio makes their official announcement. Some of these might be dead on accurate and others way off. That’s the way this game works.

With that legal disclaimer out of the way, let’s proceed. I have linked each of the titles below to their corresponding pre-order page at Amazon.com (where applicable).

First up is Lee Daniels’ The Butler starring Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey. This hit was originally scheduled to be released to coincide with Martin Luther King’s birthday early next year, but instead is looking might it might drop on November 26 instead, just in time for Black Friday shoppers to scoop it up.

The next date on the docket is December 10 and there’s a couple of unannounced Blu-rays lined up for it, all from publisher Anchor Bay. They include Salinger and Man of Tai Chi.

The following week has some big name yet to be announced. Look for Predator 3D from Fox, as well as Prisoners with Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal, and Riddick with Vin Diesel.

Horror buffs will be looking forward to the release of James Wan’s Insidious Chapter 2, ready to deliver scares into homes starting on December 26. Merry Christmas?

Turning over the calendar into 2014 will bring the box office sensation Gravity to Blu-ray (and hopefully Blu-ray 3D) on January 7 to begin its award season run, followed by Luc Besson’s The Family on January 28.

To reiterate, none of these dates should be considered official or finalized until the studio(s) say so.
