Blu-ray Release Date Rumors: Gravity, 12 Years a Slave, American Hustle and More

Blu-ray Release Date Rumors: Gravity, 12 Years A Slave, American Hustle and MoreWith the 2014 Golden Globe Awards going down last night, now seems like the perfect time to pass along a Blu-ray release date rumors report (and DVD for that matter) that highlights several of the big winners from the big event. As with any of our Blu-ray rumor reports, all of the following release dates are to be considered rumor only until each film’s respective studio makes a formal announcement.

Let’s start at the top with the Best Motion Picture – Drama winner last night, 12 Years a Slave. The powerful drama directed by Steve McQueen and starring Chiwetel Ejiofor will make its Blu-ray and DVD debut on March 4 according to Amazon.ca.

Next up is the film that scored the most high profile wins on the night, David O. Russell’s American Hustle. Though I’m not quite certain how the film is a comedy or a musical, American Hustle won Best Picture in that category, as well as snagging Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress in the same category for Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence, respectively. Our intel suggests American Hustle will con its way to Blu-ray and DVD on March 18, the same day Frozen and at least two other high profile films I can’t yet mention will arrive.

Back on December 14, 2013, I ran a Blu-ray rumor report that suggested Gravity would find its Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD footing on February 25. Additional intel has come in that confirms that date, and the Gravity Blu-ray 3D combo pre-order has already taken flight with outstanding early sales, and director Alfonso Cuaron just nabbed the Best Director – Motion Picture Golden Globe. If Blu-ray 3D is slowly fading away then Gravity will help usher it out in style.

Though it doesn’t fall into the same category as the aforementioned films, Ken Scott’s comedy Delivery Man starring Vince Vaughn and Chris Pratt looks like a March 25 release via an Amazon.com pre-order listing.

Of these upcoming Blu-rays, look for Gravity to be announced first, if not by the end of this week.
