Every time I find an exclusive downloadable featurette on BD-Live my patience for the technology to do something “new” wanes further. Disney has been the most aggressive with BD-Live applications, and now Universal looks to push the envelope even further.
On November 23 at 6PM PST, Hellboy II: The Golden Army director Guillermo Del Toro will make himself available for a live chat via Universal’s BD-Live portal. This marks the first-ever use of BD-Live for a worldwide live chat and likely not the last.
Participating in the chat requires logging in at www.UniversalHiDef.com and creating a Universal BD-Live account, assuming you haven’t already done so.
Once in, select “Director’s Chat” under “My Account” and submit up to three questions to Guillermo. Of course there’s no guarantee any will be answered, but it is worth a shot, right?
Internet-based chats are nothing new but running one through a home video player as opposed to a PC will prove an intriguing experiment. Will Universal’s server crash under the pressure? Will anyone show up at all? The results will be interesting to find out, assuming Universal shares them.
