Blake Lively, a star on CW’s Gossip Girl, has scored the femal lead opposite Ryan Reynolds in The Green Lantern film per The Hollywood Reporter.
Lively will either wear a wig or dye her hair to play Carol Ferris, the daughter of a man who runs an aerospace company she is entrusted to run. Ferris hires test pilot Hal Jordan who becomes The Green Lantern.
Keri Russell, Rose Byrne and Jennifer Garner were reportedly in the running at one point, but Lively nabbed the role after a great audition and based on her work in the upcoming film The Town.
Casting is next expected to shift gears and fill the role of Dr. Hector Hammond, widely expected to be the key villain who becomes Sinestro.
The Green Lantern will begin shooting this March in and around New Orleans and hit theaters in the superhero-heavy summer of 2011 (June 17, to be precise).
