No one could stop Slumdog Millionaire at last night’s Academy Awards as the little Indian film that could walked away with 8 Oscar trophies including Best Picture.
Though Slumdog has yet to be formally announced for Blu-ray Disc, pre-orders have been active for the title at Amazon.com for several weeks. The Oscar wins will send many scrambling to see what all the fuss is about.
As of this morning, Slumdog Millionaire had worked its way up to the number 9 spot on Amazon’s hourly Blu-ray Disc bestsellers chart. It’s likely to go even higher as more people arrive at work and realize the Blu-ray is already up for pre-order.

Fox will likely announced Slumdog Millionaire for Blu-ray and DVD this week to take advantage of the Oscar buzz. Our current intel points towards a March 31 release but Fox may toy with the release date to guarantee maximum exposure.
