Being Human Premiere Ratings Strong for Syfy

Syfy’s American version of the UK hit series Being Human got off to an exceptional start for the network.

The premiere episode of Being Human attracted 2 million viewers last night in its first airing plus an additional 1.8 million from repeats through the evening. All said and told the show pulled in 3.8 million viewers its opening night, the strongest winter series launch on the network since 2005. For comparison, last January Syfy’s Battlestar Galactica prequel Caprica drew 1.6 million in its debut.

As I suspected would happen, Being Human drew the largest female audience for a Syfy show since Warehouse 13 launched a year-and-a-half ago. According to the network, 58% of the 1 million adults in the coveted 18-49 demographic who tuned in were women.

Assuming Being Human continues to pull good ratings and gets a second season order, Syfy will have ongoing series drawing primarily females every other quarter.

The next episode of Being Human, ‘There Goes The Neighborhood: Part 2,’ airs next Monday night.
