BBC’s Life Coming to Blu-ray in June

BBC’s Planet Earth Blu-ray Disc release remained in Amazon.com’s top 10 bestsellers for well more than a year after its release en-route to becoming to the second-best selling Blu-ray title of all time. Continuing the stunning high definition look at the wonders of our planet, BBC’s Life will arrive on Blu-ray June 1 as a perfect companion to Planet Earth.

Life will first debut in North America on the Discovery Channel between March 21 and April 18 with episodes covering the Challenges of Life, Reptiles and Amphibians, Mammals, Fish, Birds, Insects, Hunters and Hunted, Creatures of the Deep, Plants, Primates, and lastly The Making of Life. It took over 4 years to make, 3000 filming days and covers 130 stories (54 for the first time on film) across every continent and habitat.

Although Life’s narration was recorded by David Attenborough for the United Kingdom, Oprah Winfrey will be providing narration for the North American Blu-ray and DVD release. The 1080p video will benefit from newer HD technology not available for Planet Earth while audio will be offered in lossy 5.1 Dolby Digital.

Bonus features will include Life on Location, a collection of ten production video diaries showing the exhaustive efforts by the filmmaking team to bring this remarkable series to the screen; deleted scenes; and a “Music Only” viewing option.

BBC’s Life on Blu-ray narrated by Oprah is not yet available for pre-order; however, the David Attenborough narrated version from the UK is by clicking here.
