It started becoming apparent around the middle of last week that the odds were stacked against a Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen teaser trailer appearing in 2008.
The last hope for the trailer, The Day the Earth Stood Still, already has X-Men Origins: Wolverine attached to it. Couple that with not a single industry leak about what might possibly be on a forthcoming trailer and the writing was on the wall.
While Michael Bay takes a lot of flak for how he shoots movies, he does, from time to time, appease the fans. In the case of this much-anticipated trailer he has done that by confirming its arrival time frame on his official forums.
“I’m stuck in the edit room up to my eye balls – also finished producing Friday the 13Th and The Unborn – coming out the after the new year. Our Trailer for Transformer you have been asking about – First there will be a teaser poster soon after the new year, and the teaser trailer will be out either in the theaters early Feb. or on the Superbowl. Cannot decide yet. I’m going to release some set stills on this site in a few weeks. I’ll keep you informed.
Going back to do more selects now from my portable avid that I take home from work. It’s late, see you.”
It’s hard to imagine Paramount and Bay shelling out the big bucks to run the trailer with the Superbowl. Then again, knowledge of this film’s upcoming release has yet to hit the general populace not in tune with the film’s production or Internet news reports. The Superbowl would be an instant, albeit “spendy” way to increase its exposure infinitely.
Next up for Paramount and Stephen Sommers: addressing when a GI Joe: Rise of Cobra teaser trailer will see the light of day.
