Electronic Arts has passed along details for the limited edition of Battlefield 3 as well as what goodies will come with pre-orders for either edition from select retails.
Battlefield 3 limited edition will include the ‘Back to Karkand’ post-launch expansion pack that will be available via download at no charge. The pack includes four maps from Battlefield 2 that have been rebuilt in Battlefield 3’s Frostbite 2 engine including: ‘Strike at Karkand,’ ‘Gulf of Oman,’ ‘Sharqi Peninsula’ and one more.
Purchasers of the Battlefield 3 standard edition will have the option of buying the ‘Back to Karkand’ pack separately for $14.99. The best deal by far is the limited edition as both sets are priced at $59.99.
Additionally, those who pre-order Battlefield 3 from a select retailer will receive three extra goodies: the Physical Warfare Pack, including the Type 88 light machine gun, SKS sniper rifle flash suppressor and DAO-12 semi-automatic shotgun; the SPECACT Kit with 8 unique skins; and the Dog Tag Pack with 5 unique dog tags. See www.battlefield.com for retailer details.
EA is claiming Battlefield 3 is already outselling its predecessor Battlefield: Bad Company 2 in pre-orders by a margin of 10 to 1. Do you believe that? I sure do.
The standard and limited editions of Battlefield 3 will be in stores for Xbox 360, PS3 and the PC on October 25, 2011.
