Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand DLC Gameplay Trailer and Release Date Update

Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand DLC Gameplay Trailer and Release DateEA has updated the status of when we might expect the Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand DLC pack and provided a new gameplay trailer that aims to make it worth the wait.

The Back to Karkand DLC pack was originally scheduled to be released alongside Battlefield 3 late last month. Since the DLC pack wasn’t quite ready for primetime, EA took it off the schedule and offered no indication of when it might be available.

Now we know Back to Karkand will deploy in December, though what date remains unknown. I’d like to think it will be out before Christmas but we just don’t know one way or the other right now.

What we do know is that those already proven maps look absolutely stunning with the upgrade. See for yourself:

As a reminder, the Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand DLC pack will be a free download to everyone who purchased the limited edition of the full game. For those who bought the standard edition, it will cost $14.99 on Playstation 3 or 1200 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360 or the PC.

Comprising the Back to Karkand DLC pack are four Battlefield 2 maps that have been moved to the new Frostbite engine that powers Battlefield 3. They are Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman, Wake Island, and Sharqi Peninsula. It will also feature three new vehicles, 10 new weapons, and a new Conquest Assault mode.

I hope to have a concrete Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand DLC pack release date, as well as exactly what those new vehicles and weapons are, to share sooner rather than later.
