Update: The Blu-ray pre-order link for Bates Motel: Season 1 has arrived at Amazon.com. Here it is:
Pre-order Bates Motel: Season 1 at Amazon for $34.99, 30% off the $49.99 list price.
A&E’s Bates Motel: Season 1, from the minds of Carlton Cuse (Lost) and Kerry Ehrin (Friday Night Lights), has been scheduled to check into Blu-ray and DVD on September 17, 2013 per Universal Studios Home Entertainment.
Bates Motel stars Freddie Highmore as Norman Bates and Vera Farmiga as his mother, Norma. Together they buy what will become the infamous Bates Motel and try to start a new life in a seaside west coast town after Norman’s father died in a mysterious accident. As Norma is well aware about her son due to their unusually close relationship, Norman isn’t like the other kids and it doesn’t take long for trouble – and ever murder – to find them both.
Also starring in Bates Motel are Nestor Carbonell, Max Thieriot, Mike Vogel, Nicola Peltz and Olivia Cooke.
The Blu-ray edition of Bates Motel: Season 1 will be present all 10 epidoes in 1.78:1 1080p video and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. The press release states the show will be presented “back-to-back and uninterrupted,” which makes it sound like all 10 episodes are on a single disc. I cannot confirm or deny that at this time. I can confirm that the Blu-ray set will include an exclusive set of collector cards featuring artwork from the show based on Jiao’s Sketchbool, for a limited time only.
Included on both the Blu-ray and DVD editions of Bates Motel: Season 1 in the bonus features department are deleted scenes and a featurette based on the Paley Center Panel Discussion with the Cast and Creative Team.
