Marvel and Joss Whedon have reportedly cast Thomas Kretschmann as the villain Baron Wolfgang von Strucker in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Latino Review first reported that the Baron would be joining Ultron, to be played by James Spader, as villains in the upcoming superhero sequel. It’s unclear how the dynamic between the Baron and Ultron will work, or whether the Baron will play a role in Ultron’s creation and/or motives.
Kretschmann most recently appeared as Abraham va Helsing in NBC’s Dracula series. He also provided the voice for Professor Z in Cars 2, amongst many other character-driven roles.
Along with Kretschmann and Spader, Elizabeth Olson and Aaron Taylor-Johnson have also boarded Avengers: Age of Ultron to make their Marvel movies debut. The sequel is expected to begin production this spring and will explode into theaters on May 1, 2015.
