Ubisoft has put the rumors to rest — by changing a subtitle. The next game in the popular Assassin’s Creed franchise, Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, was revealed today, keeping the previously leaked locale (Victorian London), but losing the “Victory” out of the title.
As Ubisoft explained, Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate will feature two protagonists, Jacob and Evie Frye, who are siblings. Players will use both characters in their gameplay, which will focus on gangs and territories in 1868 London. In the video below, Jacob looks to be another badass, who rules the streets on London with his crew, and according to Ubisoft, that crew can be added to via gameplay. Jacob and his gang will fight to take over templar-controlled territories, furthering the conflict between the brotherhood and their mortal enemies. With technology advancing in the story, there will be emphasis on better weapons, and even vehicles/transportation.
Perhaps the biggest takeaway from today’s announcement was that Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate will not feature any kind of multiplayer at all. No additional mode, and no co-op — the mode “attempted” in last winter’s Assassin’s Creed: Unity. It’s still too early to tell if Ubisoft will replace the lack of multiplayer with something else new and exciting. Expect more information next month after E3, and know that we will bring it to you.
Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate will hit stores on October 23, 2015.
