Amazon has extended their price cut on select Blu-ray Disc titles from approximately 60 to a whopping 229. The move comes in conjunction with a similar price cut on select HD DVD titles, as the format war continues to heat up in the aftermath of Warner’s CES announcement to drop HD DVD and move to a Blu-ray exclusive high definition plan starting in June.
The most notable title included in this new Blu-ray Disc sale at Amazon.com is the Spider-Man high definition trilogy. Previously listed at $92.95, the four-disc set has been cut 53% to $43.49. Other titles that caught our eye were Close Encounters of the Third Kind for $23.99, Underworld for $14.49, Black Hawk Down for $14.49, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End for $19.99, Rambo: First Blood for $18.49, and Die Hard for $19.49.
