According to E!, there is some chatter going on behind the scenes about rebooting the J.J. Abrams spy drama television show Alias.
The scoop comes from a reliable source inside ABC. According to this person, ABC is looking at rebooting Alias in hopes of retaining the Lost audience. FlashForward’s attempt to do so has already being put to sleep.
The new Alias would be a simplified version of the original that “borrows some elements.” Jennifer Garner, Michael Vartan, Victor Garber and Bradley Cooper from the original show would likely not be involved.
It’s hard to imagine Abrams jumping into yet another project right now. He’s already working on getting Undercovers for NBC launched this fall, directing Super 8, and not to mention a little film called Star Trek 2 is just around the corner.
Best to shelve this rumor for a bit because if something were to happen with Alias, the soonest we’d see it is fall 2011.
