J.J. Abrams’ Fox series Alcatraz is coming to Blu-ray and DVD on October 16, 2012. The set will include all 13 episodes of the single-season series and a handful of bonus features.
Alcatraz stars Sarah Jones, Jorge Garcia, Parminder Nagra and Sam Neill in a story about the disappearance of every Alcatraz inmate right before the prison closed in 1963, and their one-by-one reappearance in modern day without having aged a day. The show held modest ratings throughout its run, but ultimately Fox and Warner decided to not renew it for a second season and pursue new opportunities instead.
The Blu-ray edition of Alcatraz: The Complete Series will be presented in 1080p video and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. An UltraViolet copy will be included, along with these bonus features:
- The Allure of Alcatraz – Fans will discover what attracted the creators to this island. The cast members will also discuss their roles and share their memories of working on Alcatraz. Finally, the art department reveals the efforts behind re-animating the mood, tone, and mystery of this iconic landmark.
