Adrien Brody to Battle Predators; Topher Grace on Deck

By next summer we will either be bowing before Robert Rodriguez for this casting move or chastising him for further desecrating a franchise already on the ropes.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, scrawny Adrien Brody has signed on to play the lead in Rodriguez’s Predators under the direction of Nimrod Antal. Brody will play a man “inheriting the mantle of leader and is known as a hunter of men.”

Topher Grace, another undersized actor, is currently in negotiations to play “an accountant-type whose unassuming facade masks a dangerous serial killer.”

Previous cast members of the human warriors stuck on a Predator home world and forced to fight for their lives include Alice Braga as a tough female killer, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali as a man unfazed by the prospect of death, Walt Goggins as the token loose cannon, Danny Trejo as a hardened warrior named Cuchillo with twin uzis strapped to his back, and UFC fighter Oleg Taktarov as a former Russian special ops agent.

Shooting is expected to get underway next month in Hawaii before transitioning to Rodriguez’s studio in Austin, Texas. Predators is locked in by Fox for a July 9, 2010 release.
