Star Wars Instagram Offers Up Possible The Force Awakens Trailer Tease with New Footage

Star Wars Instagram

Lucasfilm and Disney have attracted more attention to the official Star Wars Instagram account by quietly uploading 15 seconds of footage from what might be the next Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens trailer that may or may not be right around the corner.

The footage combines scenes we’ve seen from previous trailers and TV spots with a couple new shots. The first features Rey (Daisy Ridley) standing in the woods and staring intently with emotion in her eyes toward the sky. Poe Dameron’s (Oscar Isaac) rotund astromech droid BB-8 shifts around behind her.

The second shot, and definitely the money shot, begins with Kylo Ren igniting his lightsaber in the woods as seen in the first The Force Awakens teaser trailer. Then the scene cuts to Finn (John Boyega), standing in the same woods and igniting Luke Skywalker’s blue lightsaber to face Ren and looking nervous while doing so.

While the visuals are getting all the attention, the aural cues in this footage are equally as important and exciting. First, the music sounds like an alternate take of the Imperial March that we’ve never heard before. Is this the first public release of new John Williams Star Wars: The Force Awakens music? Perhaps.

Additionally the Andy Serkis voiceover lines as Supreme Leader Snoke from the first teaser trailer that speaks of “an Awakening” have been re-recorded with a slightly different tone to them. I suspect what we’re hearing here is the final dub for the finished film.

Tomorrow is exactly one week until Force Friday when a deluge of Star Wars: The Force Awakens product will bombard stores. The release of this new footage that looks snipped out of a trailer ups the odds of a new Star Wars: The Force Awakens landing sometime around Force Friday by several percentage points.
