Box office milestones are virtually a daily occurrence for Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame (read our review) and a significant one is a lock to be crossed this weekend.
On Friday, Avengers: Endgame gobbled up $40.6 million at the domestic box office to bring its cumulative total stateside to $514 million. That already ranks the film as the 12th highest domestic total of all-time on its eighth day of release.
Globally the numbers are even more impressive for Avengers: Endgame. Friday drummed up a whopping $128.8 million to push the international tally to date all the way up to $1.4 billion.
When you add the domestic and international numbers together for a global total, Avengers: Endgame is sitting at an amazing $1.914 billion through only a week and a day.
On Saturday we’ll witness Avengers: Endgame blowing past the $2 billion mark at the global box office on day nine in theaters. The only other films to cross this lofty plateau are Avengers: Infinity War, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Titanic, and the reigning king, Avatar.
Don’t get too used to seeing James Cameron’s Avatar as the all-time box office record holder for global ticket sales at $2.788 billion. Barring a major catastrophe, Avengers: Endgame will become the first movie ever to breach $3 billion at the box office.
