Avengers: Age of Ultron Poster Includes Anthony Mackie aka Falcon; Iron Man Poster Released as Well

There are a couple itty bitty surprises in the new Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron poster if you bother to read through the extensive cast list printed along the bottom. A few characters speculated but officially unconfirmed to appear in the big sequel are now confirmed, while another highly requested one will definitely be taking flight.

Hiding behind all the usual suspects like director Joss Whedon and stars Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Don Cheadle, Paul Bettany, Cobie Smulders, as well as newcomers Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen and James Spader are some intriguing names. Idris Elba, known in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Heimdall; and Stellan Skarsgard, who plays the scientist Erik Selvig, have moved from the rumored column to confirmed.

Hayley Atwell was also rumored to appear and is now confirmed, ironically on the same day that Marvel’s Agent Carter TV series wrapped up its first season on ABC.

The big reward this new Avengers: Age of Ultron poster offers is the appearance of Anthony Mackie’s name. Mackie became an instant fan favorite as Falcon in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, yet his name was never attached to Avengers: Age of Ultron despite his character promising Cap that he would fight alongside him from now on. Now we know Falcon will fly again in just a few months, though how much screen time he has remains a mystery.

In keeping with all the previous marketing materials that either omit Vision entirely or cast him in shadows, this new poster puts a bright light directly behind Vision and shrinks him down to the same size as the Ultron drones in the background. Marvel really is waiting until the last possible moment to give us all a clear look at the first-ever live-action Vision.

After releasing the new Avengers: Age of Ultron poster yesterday, Marvel was back at it again today with the delivery of the first of several character posters. Iron Man gets the nod of course, and I wouldn’t be surprised if a Captain America poster doesn’t drop tomorrow.
