Further evidence that Nintendo plans to release their Amiibo Toys to Life figures before the end of the year has surfaced at Walmart.com in the form of a new bundle built around the plastic representation of classic Nintendo characters.
Walmart’s new product offering is a Super Smash Bros. Amiibo Wii U Starter Bundle that includes Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Wii U and three Amiibo figures: Link from The Legend of Zelda, Mario from Super Mario Bros., and Pikachu from Pokemon. There are nine other Amiibo figures that comprise the first wave.
The Super Smash Bros. Amiibo Wii U Starter Bundle price for pre-order is set for $99 while the release date is December 31, 2014, a common release date given by retailers for products expected before year’s end.
Amiibo figures are priced around $13 each and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Wii U is a hair under $60. A little math proves that this bundle will not save any money, but it will secure three of the more popular Amiibo figures according to Amazon.com pre-orders, especially Link where demand could lead to product shortages just ahead of Christmas.
Nintendo will deliver Amiibo figures and Super Smash Bros. Wii U edition on the same release date. The expectation is that the date will fall in mid November or early December, but no official announcement has been made as of yet.
