Nintendo brought quite a few surprises to E3 2017 including a shocking October 27th release date for Super Mario Odyssey on Nintendo Switch.
There was considerable pressure on Nintendo to deliver Super Mario Odyssey this holiday season after delaying The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild past last year’s holiday shopping season in order to coincide with the Switch launch. With Super Mario Odyssey’s release date locked in, two of Nintendo’s biggest franchises get a first year Switch new release.
Online retailer Amazon.com has already begun taking Super Mario Odyssey pre-orders and also added the Super Mario Odyssey eye-popping box art. Amazon Prime members can pre-order Super Mario Odyssey for only $47.99, while non-Prime members can pre-order for $59.99.
Releasing alongside Super Mario Odyssey are three new Mario-themed amiibo figures that will be sold in a three-pack. All are in wedding attire: Mario, Peach and Bowser.
First up for new gameplay reveals is the Super Mario Odyssey E3 2017 trailer that starts with a roar; as in a T-Rex dinosaur that players can control through the use of Mario’s hat partner.
Next up is a nearly half-hour gameplay walk-through of Super Mario Odyssey direct from the E3 2017 Nintendo booth. You’ll get to see Mario “possess”, as my kids call it, a variety of things. In actuality he’s taking control of them by throwing the hat on them.
