Saturday, November 22, 2014 marks the one-year anniversary of Microsoft’s’ Xbox One release. Or as a Microsoft email sent to media announcing the anniversary reminded us, it’s also Scarlett Johansson’s 30th birthday.
Microsoft is pretty pumped up about the Xbox One anniversary and has decided to let Xbox Live Gold members share in the celebration by experiencing Insomniac’s Sunset Overdrive for absolutely free. This includes the entire campaign mode and multiplayer Chaos Squad. The only catch, aside from requiring an Xbox Live Gold membership, is the free access to Sunset Overdrive will last for exactly 24 hours.
This deal doesn’t exactly help out Xbox One owners who already own Sunset Overdrive. Microsoft is hoping this free demo will get other Xbox One owners hooked on the game so they snatch it up during Black Friday later this week, which is a sound marketing strategy, but I would have rather Microsoft offer a back-up title or titles for those already in possession of Sunset Overdrive.
Free access to Sunset Overdrive commences at 12:01am EST / 9:01am PST late Friday night, and ends exactly 24 hours later on Saturday night.
