Activision has brought Master Eon and his Skylanders to Gamescom 2014 in Cologne, Germany to formally announce the Skylanders Trap Team Tablet Starter Pack. While the Skylanders have battled Kaos and his ill-fated plans on tablets before, Trap Team’s dedicated tablet version offers a mobile experience on iPad, Kindle Fire and Android devices that console gamers have exclusively enjoyed up until now.
The Skylanders Trap Team tablet edition is a 1:1 recreation of the console edition coming to Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U and Wii. For the first time in the franchise, tablet gamers can partake in the console experience without the need of a console. Once purchased, the complete Skylanders Trap Team can be downloaded, installed, and played from start to finish.
Developer Toys for Bob constructed the Skylanders Trap Team tablet edition in parallel with the console versions to ensure nothing was lost in the translation. In fact, the tablet edition gains a control scheme as each Skylanders Trap Team tablet starter pack includes an exclusive Bluetooth controller to mimic the console experience, as well as the option to play with traditional tablet touch-controls.

The unique Skylanders Trap Team Traptanium Portal also works with Bluetooth so there are no wires whatsoever required to play the game. Simply prop up the tablet, turn on the game, and you’re off and running with the inclusive Trap Master Snap Shot and Food Fight Skylander, as well as inclusive Water and Life Traps.
Likewise, like the console version, the tablet edition is fully compatible with all 175 previously released Skylanders figures.
Here’s the official trailer:
The Skylanders Trap Team tablet starter pack will retail for $74.99 or the same price as its console counterparts. The release date is the same as well: October 5.
