The Skylanders franchise is taking a page out of Mario Kart’s book to introduce online modes to the toys-to-life franchise for the first time in Skylanders SuperChargers.
Skylanders SuperChargers online modes begin in the Adventure Mode, otherwise known as the campaign. Traditionally players take on the Adventure Mode either as a single-layer experience or via local co-op with a friend. Now you will be able to play two-player Adventure Mode online with a friend in another zip code.
The introduction of playable vehicles obviously play a huge role in Skylanders SuperChargers and they are also central to the multiplayer on and offline modes. Two players will be able to battle head-to-head locally in a variety of races on a split-screen display (see the image above). All Skylanders SuperChargers Starter Packs come with a total of six Racing Tracks for the new Racing Mode; two each for Land, Sea and Air, as well as Time Trials with leaderboards for each Racing Track.

Racing Mode is also available online for all of the above mentioned tracks. Where local Racing Mode is limited to two players, online Racing Mode expands the field to four. Voice-chat will be enabled for Skylanders SuperChargers Racing Mode online.
Additional Racing Mode support post-launch will come in the form of Skylanders SuperChargers Racing Action Packs. A total of four optional expansion packs will each come with a SuperCharge Skylander, his or her vehicle, and a Villain Trophy. Each Villain Trophy unlocks two new tracks and new modes, including SuperVillain Cup, Boss Pursuit and Mirror Cup. A total of four villains can be unlocked as playable characters and stored in each Villain Trophy for a total of 12, and the Trophies can be taken to a friend’s house to play in the same vein as the Traps from Skylanders Trap Team.
