The voting period has come to an end and EA Sports, in collaboration with the National Hockey League and National Hockey League Players Association, have selected Boston Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron as the NHL 15 cover athlete.
Bergeron squared off against Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban in the final vote that tipped the scales at more than 10 million total entries. EA Sports isn’t sharing the margin of victory for Bergeron so he and his fans will have to be content with appearing on the cover.
NHL 15 is the first hockey game from EA Sports that will appear on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Last year’s NHL 14 was not ported for the launch of the new-gen consoles in November in order to spend more time working o on NHL 15 to make it look and play like an new-gen title and not a lazy port.
“Being featured on the cover of NHL 15 is a dream come true,” said Bergeron in the announcement. “The fact that the cover is selected entirely by fans is an incredible feeling. The passion and support from hockey fans, especially Bruins fans, is unlike any other sport and I’m so grateful to everyone who voted for me.”
NHL 15 will skate into stores on September 9 in North America and three days later in Europe. The consoles supported include Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4 and PS3.
