Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes Collector’s Edition is Frosty on PlayStation

Disney Infinity Marvel Super Heroes Collector's Edition

Sony PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 owners were already in for a little Disney Infinity 2.0 favoritism when Disney Interactive announced that Hulk would be a timed exclusive with a PS3 and Disney Infinity bundle. That promise still holds true, but Hulk isn’t the only goodie that Sony gamers have to look forward to if they’re willing to shell out a few extra bucks.

Earlier today the Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes Collector’s Edition was announced on the official Sony PlayStation blog. As suspected it includes Hulk as the timed exclusive, but it also includes a massive display base featuring the Frost Beast from the game with light-up functionality, designed by Avalance Software. The Frost Beast display base includes slots for each of the six Disney Infinity Avengers figures — each of which are included with the Collector’s Edition — plus an extra slot. Could that be for a yet-to-be-announced Loki figure?  I’d put the odds at 99.9%.

Disney Interactive is being a bit coy with how this Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes Collector’s Edition will be sold. The PS Blog post talks only about a $249.99 bundle that includes a 12GB PlayStation 3 console, yet the promo video (below) clearly highlights a PS4 edition without the console. We’re left wondering if the console-less version is truly on PS4 (as the image above denotes), will also show up for PS Vita, and if the PS3 version can be purchased without the console.
