Replace awkward conversations about sand getting into the wrong places with new Darth Maul dialogue complimented by Cad Bane taunting Jedi and you’ll begin to understand why the Disney Infinity 3.0 Star Wars Twilight of the Republic Play Set trailer that debuted at Disney’s D23 this past weekend is the best trailer from the franchise yet.
Darth Maul’s voice is as menacing as his stare in the trailer as the Sith apprentice takes on not two, not three, but four Jedi simultaneously in a climatic battle. Knowing Maul will get far more lines than he ever did in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace should ratchet up your interest in Disney Infinity 3.0 by several multiples.
The old wild western-influenced bounty hunter Cad Bane, first introduced in The Clone Wars animated series, shows up multiple times in the trailer as well. Bane will be giving the Jedi fits when they aren’t taking on legions of battle droids during the campaign. We can only hope that Cad Bane eventually gets a figure; he’d certainly look great in plastic alongside Darth Maul.
With the good unfortunately comes some bad, and that negativity is directed squarely at Anakin Skywalker’s mug. The design of his face in this trailer is quite off putting compared to the other Jedi and enemies around him. I suspect Ahsoka Tano will be the Starter Pack hero most players gravitate toward, especially with her dual lightsabers.
