Weekend Box Office Predictions Game: Romance vs Vampires

Our Weekend Box Office Prophet game is back after a week off to ring in 2010. Though no new films hit cinemas last weekend, a trio of genre flicks hope to carve into the big business of James Cameron’s Avatar, Sherlock Holmes and The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.

Lionsgate is pinning its hopes on the R-rated vampire film Daybreakers while Universal sets its sights on the ladies with Amy Adams in Leap Year. Meanwhile Weinstein/Dimension offers up the quirky comedy Youth in Revolt with Michael Cera.

The object of the game is simple: guess the final domestic box office dollars in millions for the five films shown below. Your prediction is averaged in with the other players for a cumulative score to compete against the Prophet predictions.

Should the average player differences between the actual box office gross and predicted grosses beat the Prophet for 3 or more of the 5 films, the top player will win a prize. This week that prize is the upcoming Fox release Post Grad on the winner’s choice of Blu-ray or DVD. If the Prophet wins then that prize will roll into next week and be combined with another prize.

Once you are logged in, the average player scores will update in real time below as new predictions are entered. The entry period will close the evening of Thursday, January 7.
