Last weekend yielded the most skewed results from any round of the Weekend Box Office Prophet game to date thanks to the huge success of The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Blind Side.
This week will be no easier with both of those films carrying over to be joined by Old Dogs with John Travolta, Robin Williams and Seth Green; the bloody Ninja Assassin; and Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox starring the voices of George Clooney and Meryl Streep amongst others. In theory, this upcoming weekend should be another big success for Hollywood.
The Weekend Box Office Prophet game invites anyone to predict what five films will make in theaters for the upcoming weekend. After logging into the site, you will predict the weekend box office gross for Old Dogs and the other films and try to be the closest of everyone playing. If you are, then you hope the cumulative score of all the players is better on 3 or more movies than the Prophet. If so, a recently released DVD or Blu-ray Disc prize will be awarded. Because of Thanksgiving we have had to make some changes to how this round of the game will be handled.
- Eligible Dates: Although all three new wide releases this week open on Wednesday, the game will count box office receipts from Friday through Sunday only.
- Closing Date: The game entry period will close Wednesday evening, November 25, a day earlier than usual in observance of the holiday.
