Today marked the official 30th anniversary of Transformers: The Movie making it the perfect day for Shout! Factory to release a new trailer for their upcoming Transformers: The Movie 30th Anniversary Blu-ray and DVD.
It’s quite obvious from the short trailer that the new 4K restoration of Transformers: The Movie from the original 35mm film elements offers a noticeable improvement over the previous Metrodome release transfer. The title is extremely crisp and the animation looks about as sharp as you would expect it to without completely reanimating the film.
Speaking of 4K, could we see a Transformers: The Movie 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release in the future given the new 4K restoration and transfer? I’d wager yes considering Shout! Factory has already embraced the new format.
Pay no attention that the trailer makes it sound like Transformers: The Movie 30th Anniversary is out right now in stores everywhere. The actual release date is September 13th so it’s wholly possible that Shout! Factory felt generous and released this trailer early that was previously scheduled for release next month.
You will be able to purchase Transformers: The Movie 30th Anniversary on Blu-ray in a two-disc set or a limited edition steelbook. A separate DVD edition will also be available.
