Michael Bay’s Transformers: Age of Extinction was one of the top grossing films at the domestic box office this past summer and has already crossed $1 billion in worldwide business. As a result expect the Transformers: Age of Extinction home video release to do boffo business, and thanks to a tip from Josh L., we may have nailed down the Transformers: Age of Extinction Blu-ray release date.
Paramount released Transformers: Age of Extinction in cinemas across North America on June 27. Disc-based home video releases are typically at least three full months after a film’s big-screen debut, which would put Tuesday, September 30 as the first release date option for Paramount to utilize.
Last week Best Buy’s website had a pre-order listing for the Transformers: Age of Extinction Blu-ray Steelbook exclusive releases alongside the Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD skus. Unlike those others, Best Buy listed a 9/30 release date alongside the Steelbook listing.
That release date has since been removed and the listing replaced entirely, but don’t count out its validity. Retailers are the first to know of a studio’s plans for when titles will be ready to stock on store shelves. Though Paramount Home Entertainment has yet to formally announce the Transformers: Age of Extinction Blu-ray and DVD release date, the odds tilt in favor of September 30 at this time.
Given the lack of confirmation or an official announcement we must label the Transformers: Age of Extinction Blu-ray release date as rumor for now.
