The Walk starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Philippe Petit and directed by Robert Zemeckis doesn’t open in wide release in traditional cinemas and IMAX until October 9th. A film that critics are calling one of the best uses of 3D — if not the best use of 3D ever — in a film looks to be getting a Blu-ray 3D release in the next few months.
Online retailer Amazon.com has opened up a listing page for The Walk Blu-ray 3D from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment with an active pre-order attached to it. This would presumably be a combo pack release bundled with Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD.
It’s way too early to be talking about The Walk Blu-ray 3D release date that at the absolute earliest wouldn’t arrive until mid-December. Those of you with Blu-ray 3D players should be excited to know that Sony isn’t ignoring the 3D achievements of the film and, per the Amazon listing, does appear to be bringing the film to Blu-ray 3D.
