Warner Bros. Home Entertainment dipped into their vault and is bringing back the 1960’s animal rock band in the R-rated feature film The Banana Splits Movie. It will first appear August 13th on Digital followed by a Blu-ray and DVD release on August 27th.
Based on Hanna-Barbera’s 1968 The Banana Splits Adventure Hour variety program, this new horror-fueled take stars Dani Kind as Beth, Finlay Wojtak-Hissong as Harley, Romeo Carere as Austin, Steve Lund as Mitch, and Sara Canning as Rebecca.
The official synopsis reads:
“The film follows a boy named Harley and his family as they go to a taping of The Banana Splits TV show, which is supposed to be a fun-filled birthday for young Harley. But things take an unexpected turn – and the body count quickly rises. Can Harley, his mom and their new pals safely escape?”
A trio of bonus features will be included on the Blu-ray and Digital versions. Only the first one listed will be on the DVD.
