Manhattan becomes ground zero for a deadly viral outbreak and vampire turf war in Season 1 of FX’s The Strain, the hit new series from Guillermo Del Toro, Carlton Cuse and Chuck Hogan that will be making its Blu-ray debut on a December 2 release date.
The Strain stars David Bradley, Mía Maestro, Corey Stoll, Kevin Durand, Jonathan Hyde, Richard Sammel, Jack Kesy, Miguel Gomez, Ben Hyland and Natalie Brown in a story that starts with the delivery of an ancient vampire master to JFK airport aboard a doomed flight, and the subsequent why, how and what’s next upon this master’s arrival.
The 13-episode first season of The Strain averaged 2.21 million viewers for FX and earned a second season renewal before the first season had fully aired. It’s based on the books of the same name by del Toro and Hogan so there’s still plenty of source material to work with.
The Strain Blu-ray will be offered in 1080p video and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio with the following bonus features, all of which appear to be featurettes: In the Beginning, a Novel Approach, and Setrakian’s Lair.
