Star Wars: The Force Awakens Blu-ray Pre-Order Live, DVD Not Yet (Update)

J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens made a quick jump to hyperspace at the box office last night and is already setting course for the next frontier to conquer: home video.

Online retailer Amazon.com today began accepting pre-orders for the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Blu-ray. Pricing is currently set at $39.99 for the probable combo pack with DVD and Digital HD, though keep in mind that Amazon will lower the price before release and the lowest price is what a pre-order is charged when the item ships.

Speaking of DVD, there’s no sign of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens DVD at Amazon just yet, or indication that a Blu-ray 3D version will be released. Disney has been inconsistent with Blu-ray 3D releases so at this time we simply don’t know if it’s in their plans.

Update: Amazon has lowered the pre-order price to a much more reasonable $24.99.

Pre-order Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Blu-ray here at Amazon and watch it quickly rise to the top of the Blu-ray bestsellers list (currently the Original Star Wars trilogy box set sits in the top spot).
