Shout! Factory have entered into a new home video distribution agreement with Laika, the stop-motion animation studio out of Oregon led by Travis Knight.
Under the multi-year agreement, Shout! Factory has all packaged home video rights to each of Laika’s first four Oscar-nominated films: Kubo and the Two Strings, The Box Trolls, Coraline, and ParaNorman.
At minimum expect Shout! Factory to release updated Blu-ray editions with new bonus features as well as collectible packaging, which could include Steelbooks.
Future 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray editions are also on the table and would be a perfect fit for Laika’s animation style.
Expect Shout! Factory’s first official Laika title announcement sometime later this year.
