Paramount and DTS have entered into an agreement in which select Paramount Home Entertainment titles will include DTS:X audio soundtracks.
The first Paramount Blu-ray titles to feature DTS:X audio have already been released. They include Daddy’s Home, The Big Short, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, and Zoolander No. 2.
Additionally, Paramount will include a DTS Headphone:X track on all the aforementioned titles as well as upcoming releases.
Future Paramount Blu-ray titles, and potentially 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray titles, outfitted with DTS:X and DTS Headphone:X audio mixes will be announced at a later date.
An audio/video receiver or soundbar with DTS:X decoding is required to listen to the full DTS:X soundtrack. Many recent equipment releases already include the technology, and others have been updated to include it via firmware upgrades.
DTS:X is designed to improve home video audio by channeling sound in front of, behind, above and beside the audience. It is the next evolution in audio from DTS following the introduction of DTS:HD during the early years of Blu-ray.
