‘My Neighbor Totoro’ Getting Impressive Blu-ray Set for 30th Anniversary

Studio Ghibli and director Hayao Miyazaki’s animation classic My Neighbor Totoro is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. To commemorate the milestone, Studio Ghibli has partnered with GKIDS, a Shout! Factory label, for a new My Neighbor Totoro Blu-ray box set.

The upcoming My Neighbor Totoro 30th anniversary limited edition Blu-ray set is packaged in an “elegant hard slipcase.” Within that case and alongside the Blu-ray is a new 40-page art and essays book, and the film’s soundtrack on CD — the first time it’s been available in North America.

Within the pages of the 40-page book are new essays by The New York Times’ film critic A.O. Scott and film writer Lauren Wilford. Director Hayao Miyazaki and producer Toshio Suzuki provide statements, and other surprises are in store.

Inclusive bonus features included on Blu-ray are as follows:

  • Behind the Microphone
  • Creating My Neighbor Totoro
  • Creating the Characters
  • The Totoro Experience
  • Producer’s Perspective: Creating Ghibli
  • The Locations of Totoro
  • Scoring Miyazaki

Look for the My Neighbor Totoro 30th anniversary limited edition Blu-ray set in stores on December 11th.
