Sony’s free speech-driven comedy The Interview starring Seth Rogen and James Franco has a Blu-ray release date of February 17 according to a new product listing page at online retailer Amazon.com.
The Interview needs no introduction as the film and November hack of Sony Entertainment’s computer systems spawned by the film’s existence dominated news headlines in the latter months of 2014. After the hack and threats by the hackers to perform violent acts on American soil if the film was released on its December 25, 2014 release date, the film was eventually released in approximately 300 independent theaters on December 24 immediately following a successful VOD release that has earned approximately $31 million to date.
Now The Interview is completing its release schedule with a Blu-ray and DVD release that bucks the traditional three-month window between cinemas and disc-based home video. The film will have been available on VOD for approximately two months when the Blu-ray and DVD drop.
We’ll have more The Interview Blu-ray release date news with the disc specs and cover art shortly. Thanks to Josh L. for the tip.
