‘Harry Potter’ 4K Blu-rays Coming in Reverse Order

The Wizarding World is coming to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray in a big way this year with today’s announcement that all eight Harry Potter films starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint will be getting the 4K Blu-ray treatment.

Warner Bros. is releasing the Harry Potter 4K Blu-rays in two separate waves. The first wave drops March 28th and includes Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.

Wave 2 is scheduled for an unannounced release date later this year and includes Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

You might be wondering why the last four films are coming before the first four. The best we can guess is that March 28th is also the release date for the as-of-yet announced Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them on 4K Blu-ray and Warner wants to align the more adult-skewed latter Harry Potter films with the adult-skewed Fantastic Beasts release.

Each of the Harry Potter 4K releases will feature DTS:X audio as well as all the bonus features found on the previous Blu-ray releases. The SRP is set at $44.95.
