CBS Home Entertainment has set December 16 as the Extant Season 1 Blu-ray and DVD release date.
The announcement comes shortly after the Extant Season 1 finale increased its viewership by 1.5 million people to draw a total of 5 million overall viewers and a 3.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Rumors of Extant being renewed for a second season are already starting to swirl around. The ratings indicate CBS will likely pick it up for a sophomore session next summer.
Extant is a Sci-Fi series starring Halle Berry and executive produced by Steven Spielberg. Berry plays an astronaut who spent 13 months in space on a solo mission. When she returns to earth, she discovers she is inexplicably pregnant while her husband built a prototype android, Ethan, who is their son.
The Blu-ray and DVD editions of Extant: Season 1 will each feature over 90 minutes of bonus features as outlined below:
- “The Story Of Extant,” includes an introduction from legendary director Spielberg, and follows Extant writer/creator Mickey Fisher as he works with producers to bring the unique series to the small screen
- “The Mythology Of Extant” where creator Mickey Fisher he introduces key words, characters and items that constitute the show’s futuristic setting
- Meet Extant’s amazing cast headlined by Berry (Molly Woods), along with Goran Visnjic (John Woods), Pierce Gagnon (Ethan Woods), Lou Gossett Jr. (Quinn), Tyler Hilton (Charlie Arthurs) and Grace Gummer (Julie Gelineau) in
- “Extant: The Cast”
- “Filming Season One” where fans will hear from the directors, writers and creators, and go behind-the-scenes of the groundbreaking series from the pilot to the last episode
- Additional features that examine the show’s props, costumes and stunning visual effects
Extant: Season 1 on Blu-ray can be pre-ordered for around $50 while the DVD runs $10 cheaper at $40.
