Ryan Reynolds as the wannabe plucky and shamelessly caffeine-obsessed Detective Pikachu officially arrived in North American cinemas Thursday night for preview showings.
Detective Pikachu should give Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame a run for its money at the box office thanks to a large and loyal Pokemon fan base. Those same fans will almost assuredly be wanting to own Detective Pikachu on home video, and Amazon wants to secure those pre-orders as soon as possible.
Sometime early Friday morning Amazon launched pre-order pages for a Detective Pikachu Blu-ray, DVD and Digital combo pack, as well as a Detective Pikachu 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and Digital combo pack.
Both upcoming physical disc versions of Detective Pikachu currently carry their full MSRP. However, the price will adjust downwards before they ship and any pre-orders secured now will automatically adjust downward right up until the release.
Speaking of release dates, the earliest we’ll see a Detective Pikachu 4K Blu-ray sitting on a store shelf is sometime in mid-August given the traditional three month theatrical-to-disc release window.
We’ll pass along additional Detective Pikachu home video details, including a potential Steelbook over at Best Buy, as they surface.
