The 2013 sea bound thriller Captain Phillips starring Tom Hanks and Barkhad Abdi is headed to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray in Limited Edition SteelBook packaging. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment have pegged July 16th, 2024 as the release date.
Captain Phillips will come equipped with a 4K transfer featuring Dolby Vision HDR. The upgrades continue on the audio front where Dolby Atmos is employed.
The 4K disc will include the theatrical trailer, while a second Blu-ray Disc featuring the feature sourced from the 4K master will carries forward a couple more extras:
- Commentary with Director Paul Greengrass
- Capturing Captain Phillips – in-depth behind-the-scenes featurettes on making the acclaimed film
Captain Phillips is directed by Paul Greengrass and was nominated for 6 Academy Awards including Best Picture.
