Paramount Home Entertainment has officially announced that Braveheart starring Mel Gibson and Gladiator starring Russell Crowe are most definitely coming to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray on May 15th.
Both titles will be three-disc sets that also include the films on Blu-ray as well as bonus features and a Digital copy. From there the specs differ a little so I’ll break them down by title.
Braveheart features Dolby Atmos audio and the legacy commentary by Mel Gibson is included on both the Blu-ray and the 4K versions of the film.
Gladiator includes the extended and theatrical editions on the 4K disc with and Introduction by Ridley Scott (Extended Edition); Commentary by director Ridley Scott and actor Russell Crowe (Extended Edition); and Commentary by director Ridley Scott, editor Pietro Scalia and cinematographer John Mathieson (Theatrical Edition).
All of the bonus features from the previous Blu-ray editions are also included on the inclusive Blu-ray bonus features disc.
