Universal Studios Home Entertainment is delivering studio Laika’s The Boxtrolls via Digital HD on December 23, just in time for the Christmas holiday break. The Boxtrolls Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD release date is a few weeks later in the new year on January 20, 2015.
The stop-motion animated movie about strange yet good-hearted creatures that secretly raised a human boy beneath his own world has earned over $103 million at the worldwide box office. It is rated “fresh” at Rotten Tomatoes with an aggregated critical review score of 74 percent.
Universal is releasing two separate Blu-ray versions of The Boxtrolls; one with the film on Blu-ray 3D and the other without. Both Blu-ray combo packs will additionally include the film on DVD and Digital HD, and offer the feature presentation in 1.78:1 1080p video and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio.
