Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced an August 19 release date for Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD following an impressive run at the worldwide box office.
Through yesterday, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 had just topped $700 million in worldwide box office ticket sales. At $198.3 million in North America, the sequel should inch past the $200 million mark domestically this week.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Sally Field, Paul Giamatti and Chris Cooper. A third film in the series is already planned for June 10, 2016, as are multiple spin-offs including Venom and the Sinister Six.
Sony has loaded The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray combo packs with numerous bonus features, many of which are exclusive to Blu-ray as noted below.
