AMC is making their final awareness push for the upcoming premiere of Fear The Walking Dead this Sunday night by releasing the very first scene from the pilot episode. The Walking Dead spinoff will try to find its own legs without Daryl, Rick or the gang to prop them up. It will be interesting to see where the series premiere ratings land.
In the clip, Chris Manawa (Lorenzo James Henrie) wakes up in an abandoned building after presumably a hard night of partying. We’ll seen bits and pieces of this scene in the various trailers, but this is the first time we get to see how it begins without any cuts.
Chris is gingerly for an acquaintance named Gloria but before he finds her, he stumbles onto a dead dude in the basement with his neck chewed out. Now on high alert, Chris finally finds Gloria and an extra-special surprise as well.
This scene plays especially slow and tense as many of the early pilot reviews have suggested Fear The Walking Dead gets underway. There won’t be big packs of zombies to battle. Instead, we’ll meet a combined family struggling to stay together who find much bigger problems than their own as society slowly begins to unravel.
Fear The Walking Dead begins the first of its six-episode first season this Sunday at 9/8c on AMC.
