AMC has released the first clip from Fear the Walking Dead, the upcoming The Walking Dead spin-off series set during the early days of the zombie apocalypse in and around Los Angeles, California.
It comes as no surprise that not a single walker, as they probably won’t be known on the show, or even a drop of blood appears in this first look. Instead we are introduced to Nick (Frank Dillane), a young man who is running and escaping from something that has instilled a look of sheer horror into his face. Nick could care less that his shirt is open and his pants are practically falling off as he sprints down a city street for “fear” of his life.
The Walking Dead’s beginnings were far more subdued as Rick Grimes awoke from a coma and slowly came to the realization that the world had gone to hell in his absence. I get the impression that Nick’s escape is the opening scene of Fear the Walking Dead’s inaugural season and we’ll be seeing a lot more of Nick as the first six episodes play out later this summer.
AMC is expected to premiere Fear the Walking Dead in August with the first season’s finale ending shortly before The Walking Dead Season 6 premieres. Expect a precise premiere date to be announced by San Diego Comic-Con in mid-July at the absolute latest.
